MATRIX PLASTIC VILLAGE
Lagos Masterplan
LAGOS, NIGERIA
It is a plot project for further developments and treatments of slums in Lagos. The principal purpose of the project is to enhance the living conditions of the poor. The village covering 12.800 m2 hosts approximately 400 people and includes service modules and a square in addition to residences. Also, floating bridges connect two sides of the canal. The construction material of walls is recycled plastic blocks that are manufactured by compressing waste plastics in machines, while roofs and boards are produced from microplastic wastes. Housing units are designed as modular structures with basic forms. Each living module occupies 64 m2 with farming and indoor space. The form is a simple house form with 1 story, it is similar to slums. It is convenient for each family type to adapt the living module for specific requirements. Square forms of modules and layouts easily adapt to the grid urban system in Lagos. To avoid identical modules, it is created eight unique plan typologies by using the algorithmic design method. Each plan typology could be selected by the owner and arranged according to their wish.
