PlasticVillage project aims to bring feasible solutions against existing issues in Lagos.It is a plot project for further developments and treatments of slums in Lagos.Plot project is meaningly conceived on the coast including slum settlements,of cannal which obviously emphasizes gap between rich and poor visually.Principal purpose of project is to enhance life conditions of poorers,and to remove this gap.Village covering 12.800 m2 hosts approximately 400 people,and includes service modules and square in addition to residences.Also floating bridges connect two sides of cannal.Construction material of wall is recycled plastic blocks that are manufactured by compressing waste plastics in machines,while roofs and boards are produced from microplastic wastes.A living module recycles 9 tonnes of plastic,while community consumes 72 tonnes and village uses 1152 tonnes.Solar panels on roofs and common spaces generate electricity from sunlight while rainwater collected in tanks is used for sanitation and clean water after purification process.Foods are supplied within village from farm market and fish market.All organic wastes are used as fertilizer to feed crops whereas others are seperated in recycle cabins.

adaptability

Housing units are designed as modular structures with basic forms.Each living module occupies 64 m2 with farming and indoor space.Form is simple house form with 1 storey,it is similar to slums.It is convenient for each family type to adapt living module for specific requirements. Square forms of modules and layouts easily adapt to gridal urban system in Lagos.

diversity

Huge amount of population lives in slums with poor conditions.However,slums have a culture and attraction arising from their own diversity.Project aims to maintain slum culture in this village where each module has its own story.To avoid identical modules,it is created eight unique plan typologies by using algorithmic design method.Each plan typology could be selected by owner and arrange according to their wish.
